MAINTENANCE

Wood needs to be cleaned REGULARLY and handled with care, just like any other material.
There are also a few other things to bear in mind when dealing with wood.

For example, that wood is a living material and therefore subject to the environment and environmental change. Wood is strong, but not as strong as stone. However, it also has the advantage that if it is damaged, scratches and cracks can be sanded out and the item refinished.
If we know the properties of wood, we know how to handle it properly.Well-kept wooden furniture will last FOR A LONG TIME.
Microfibre or cotton cloth that is slightly damp is ideal for cleaning/maintenance. You can dampen the plaster with plain water or soapy water – then you can be sure that you’re not using substances that are unsuitable for the wood or finish. Many cleaning products contain silicone, which makes the surface of the wood look nice and shiny, but in the long run it forms a layer that attracts dust. So it’s best to just use water. However, if you prefer a cleaner, choose silicone-free and wax-free. Do not use wet cloth, as excessive moisture can damage the wood surface. To make sure that no excess moisture remains on the furniture, you can wipe the surface with a dry cloth after wiping with a damp cloth.
If water or any other liquid drips, shakes or spills on the table, it should be wiped up immediately!
If the liquid is left on the wood surface for a long period of time, it can eventually soak into the finish and cause white spots to form.

To make sure that WOODEN FURNITURE lasts for decades…

  1. Tablecloths, trays, napkins and other tablecloths help to prevent and reduce the risk of scratches that can occur during everyday use.
  2. Under mugs, glasses, plates, use (hot) trays. The heat can leave white spots on the wood surface because the wood surface is varnished.
  3. Use felt pads or cushions under lamps, vases and other decorative gadgets so they don’t scratch the wooden surface.
  4. Wooden furniture is not suitable for high temperature and humidity fluctuations. Therefore, keep wooden furniture away from heat sources such as stoves and cookers. The ideal home temperature for wooden furniture is 21-22 degrees C on average and a humidity level of 40-60%, which are usually the ideal conditions for wooden furniture indoors.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Wood is not water or heat resistant. If we accidentally leave a hot or wet cup directly on the solid wood table, a white spot may appear underneath the cup. This stain occurs when moisture penetrates the finish and creates microscopic “pockets”. In such a case, the table top must be sanded and finished again.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: The table has been finished for you just before delivery, and the first 3 weeks you should be extra careful when handling the table to ensure it is long lasting and resistant, 3 weeks is the time when the finish will set deep into the wood.
